Italian diagnostic imaging company Bracco is building its first manufacturing plant in the United States, and it will need 200 workers. For people searching for USA jobs for foreigners with a global employer, as well as local job seekers, this is a project to watch. North Carolina Governor Josh Stein announced on 27 October 2026 that Bracco will invest $230 million in a new plant in Sanford, Lee County.

What Bracco will make

The new site will be a sterile manufacturing plant producing injectable contrast media. These are the liquids injected into patients before some scans so that organs and blood vessels show up clearly on the images. Bracco says making them in the US will shorten delivery times, cut transport costs and bring supply closer to American hospitals.

Bracco is a family-owned company headquartered in Milan, Italy.

What it means for job seekers

  • Life sciences skills are in demand. Experience in clean rooms, sterile production or GMP (good manufacturing practice) is a big plus.
  • Get a biotech certificate. North Carolina community colleges run short courses that prepare people for pharma production jobs.
  • Work rights matter. Foreign applicants will need US work authorisation; the announcement does not mention sponsorship.
  • Be patient. A new sterile plant takes time to build, so many roles will open over the next few years.
