Poland's aerospace sector keeps growing, bringing new jobs in Poland for engineers and skilled machinists. US engine maker Pratt & Whitney has started building a $100 million facility in Rzeszów, south-east Poland, which will create more than 120 jobs. The work began on 23 October 2026, and the plant is due to be up and running in 2028.

What the new plant will do

The facility will make critical rotating engine parts – the turbine and compressor disks that spin at very high speeds inside a jet engine. These parts are used in:

  • GTF engines, which power Airbus A320neo and A220 aircraft
  • F135 engines, used in the F-35 fighter jet
  • F100 engines, used in fighter aircraft

Pratt & Whitney is also adding a new forging press at its Columbus Forge site in Georgia, USA. Together, the two projects should lift output of these critical parts by about 30%.

A major aerospace employer

Rzeszów is already one of Pratt & Whitney's key sites. It builds GTF gear systems, F100 parts and engines for helicopters, business jets and general aviation aircraft. Poland is RTX's largest employee base outside the United States, with more than 9,500 people working for Pratt & Whitney, Collins Aerospace and Raytheon.

Piotr Owsicki, who runs the Rzeszów site, said the start of construction marks the moment the plan becomes reality.

Likely roles

The company has not listed the new positions yet. Precision engine-part production usually needs:

  • CNC machinists and machine operators
  • Manufacturing and process engineers
  • Quality inspectors and metrology specialists
  • Maintenance technicians
  • Production planners and supervisors

How to apply

There is no dedicated hiring page for the new plant yet. Search for Rzeszów openings on the official RTX and Pratt & Whitney careers websites, and set alerts for Poland as the 2028 start date gets closer.

What it means for job seekers

  • Aerospace skills travel well. Experience with CNC machining, metallurgy or aviation quality standards is valued across Europe.
  • Learn some Polish. Many shop-floor roles need it, though engineering teams often work in English.
  • EU citizens can work in Poland freely; others will need a work permit arranged with the employer.
  • Plan ahead. The plant opens in 2028, so the main hiring push is still to come.
