What kind of jobs
A car assembly plant of this size usually needs a wide mix of staff. Expect roles such as:
- production associates on assembly lines
- maintenance technicians, electricians and robotics technicians
- quality inspectors and paint, body and stamping specialists
- manufacturing, process and industrial engineers
- logistics, warehouse and supply chain staff
- HR, finance, IT and health and safety teams
Suppliers that set up near the plant are likely to add many more jobs on top of Audi's own 4,500.
Training before the plant opens
Georgia will use its Quick Start programme, one of the best-known state workforce training services in the US, to build a custom training plan with Audi. Instruction is set to begin through Technical College System of Georgia campuses even before a dedicated training facility is finished. That gives local people a head start to learn skills for the plant.
Why middle Georgia
Audi pointed to speed to market, the local workforce, access to customers and a mature car supply chain in the south-east. The megasite has rail access nearby and good links to the ports of Savannah and Brunswick and to Atlanta's airport. Georgia already hosts major vehicle and battery projects, including Hyundai's plant near Savannah.
How to apply
Audi has not opened recruitment for the Georgia plant yet, and the governor's office gave no hiring date. When jobs are posted they are expected to appear on Audi's official careers site and through Georgia Quick Start. Until then, there is nothing to apply for, so be careful of anyone asking for fees or personal details for "Audi Georgia" jobs.
What it means for job seekers
- This is a long-term opportunity. Full production is planned for 2031, so hiring will build up over several years.
- Start training now. Courses in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, welding and electrical work at Georgia technical colleges match what car plants need.
- Watch supplier announcements. Parts makers often announce their own plants, and jobs, before the main factory opens.
- Construction jobs come first. Site work from 2027 and building from 2028 will need trades and equipment operators.
