Qatar's Ministry of Labour is stepping up efforts to get more citizens into private sector jobs. It recently held an Open Recruitment Day with Qatar Islamic Bank (QIB), announced on 13 October 2026, and has begun talks with state-owned companies on its Private Sector Nationalisation Plan.

The QIB recruitment day

The event focused on banking careers and drew a large number of Qatari graduates and job seekers. The ministry said it supports:

Group Support
Qatari university students Career guidance and links to employers
Recent Qatari graduates Matching to private sector openings
Children of Qatari women Eligible for the ministry's employment support

The organisers did not publish the number of vacancies or the job titles. Banking is one of the main sectors where Qatarisation targets apply.

Consultations on the nationalisation plan

In late September, Minister of Labour Dr Ali bin Samikh Al Marri chaired the first of a series of consultation sessions with chief executives of state-owned companies and public-benefit entities. The plan sets out targets, incentives, partnerships and monitoring to raise Qatari employment in companies, under the Private Sector Jobs Nationalisation Law.

How to apply

Qatari job seekers should register on Kawader, the ministry's national employment platform, and follow the Ministry of Labour for upcoming recruitment days. QIB lists its own vacancies on its official website.

What it means for job seekers

  • Qatari graduates: Banking and finance employers are actively recruiting nationals. Attend open days with an updated CV.
  • Register on Kawader. It is the main route the ministry uses to match citizens with company jobs.
  • State-owned firms will set targets. Expect more Qatari intake programmes as the nationalisation plan moves ahead.
  • Expats: Customer-facing and junior banking roles are increasingly being filled by Qatari staff, so specialist skills matter more.
