Which program fits you?

Living in the Gulf with no Canadian experience? FSW is usually the route. You need strong English (CLB 7 or higher) and at least one year of skilled work in a TEER 0 to 3 job.

Already working in Canada on a work permit? CEC is often the fastest path, because it needs no job offer and no education assessment.

A skilled tradesperson? FST covers trades such as industrial, electrical and construction trades, and chefs, but you need a job offer or a certificate of qualification from a Canadian authority.

Language scores matter most

Your language test is often the biggest factor in your score. Only approved tests count: CELPIP-General, IELTS General Training and PTE Core for English, and TEF Canada and TCF Canada for French. Read: Which English tests count for Express Entry.

Find your TEER level first

Before you check eligibility, find your NOC code and TEER level. Read: Canada NOC codes and TEER categories explained.

Tips

  • Meet the minimum, then aim higher. Higher language scores earn more points.
  • Get reference letters that list your duties, hours, salary and dates.
  • Watch category-based draws. Canada also invites candidates in certain occupations. See: Express Entry changes for November 2026.

Requirements can change. Always confirm on IRCC's official website before you apply.
