Saudi Arabia has approved its first group of hotel investment projects, and officials expect them to bring more than 17,000 jobs. The Ministry of Tourism, working with the Ministry of Investment, announced the 19 projects on 20 October 2026, according to the Saudi Press Agency.

The total investment is SR6.7 billion (about $1.78 billion). The projects fall under the Hospitality Investment Enablers Program, which helps private investors build new hotels outside the biggest cities.

Where the jobs will be

The hotels are spread across five parts of the Kingdom:

  • Jeddah on the Red Sea coast
  • Asir in the south-west mountains
  • Al-Baha, also in the south-west
  • Al-Ahsa in the east
  • The Eastern Province

Nineteen companies are behind the projects, including BSF Capital, Sedal, Rikaz and Jenan. By 2030, the government expects the projects to add more than SR2.4 billion a year to GDP and over SR5.3 billion in local content.

What kind of jobs to expect

The announcement gives a total job figure but no breakdown by role. Hotel openings usually need staff in:

  • Front office, reservations and guest relations
  • Housekeeping and laundry
  • Kitchens, restaurants and room service
  • Maintenance, engineering and security
  • Sales, revenue management, HR and finance

Many of the 17,000 jobs may also come during the construction and fit-out stage, before the hotels open.

Hotels in the Kingdom must also meet Saudization quotas, which affects how many roles can go to expatriates. For background, see how Saudization quotas work by company size.

How to apply

No central recruitment portal has been announced for these projects. Jobs will be advertised by each hotel operator and developer as openings approach. Saudi nationals can also watch the government's job platforms; our guide to the Jadarat platform explains how they work.

What it means for job seekers

  • Hospitality hiring is spreading beyond Riyadh. Jeddah, Asir and the Eastern Province are worth targeting.
  • Timing matters. Pre-opening teams are hired several months before a hotel opens, so with the first project due by the end of 2026, start watching now.
  • Get certified. Food safety, guest service or a hotel management diploma will help your CV stand out.
  • Track the companies named above and the international hotel brands they partner with.
